The above quote comes from Edgar Allan Poe’s The Raven. I suggest you read it, or at least watch the episode of The Simpsons based around it (Season 2, episode 3, ‘Treehouse of Horror I).
However, the purpose of the quote wasn’t to promote Poe or The Simpsons. It was to start off this article, which is to discuss our faded European dreams.
